Product Research & Development
Innovation Drives Success
Introducing new products or changing existing products to fit new applications creates the innovation that drives successful solutions. Accomplishing this type of innovation demonstrates your commitment to providing the best possible products for your customers. It’s key in building and maintaining good business relationships.
The research and development critical to creating this innovation requires a high level of technical know-how and a solid understanding of product application that comes with years of experience.
TFP & Associates has that know-how. We have developed and commercialized products across the lubricating spectrum: oils to greases, synthetics to food grade, industrial/automotive to aerospace.
New Products
The type of product that most people immediately think about when they think about innovation. The product may be new to the company or the world and offers an advantage over competitors through performance improvement, cost reduction, or a technological leap.
Reformulated Products
Also known as “next generation” products and traditionally commercialized as “new and improved,” reformulated products often reduce costs, improve existing product lines, reposition existing products in new markets, or augment an existing product portfolio. These products are crucial to a company’s success because they perform well and extend the life cycle of the breakthrough product before they taper off. Profitability is maximized in reformulated products because they generate revenue for future development without incurring huge development costs.

Product Selection & Application
Selecting the Right Lubricant
Lubricant selection is critical to the success of your business, your maintenance reliability programs, and ultimately your customers. The lubricants you choose must provide the optimum level of performance to maximize uptime, minimize downtime, and provide cost savings.
How do you know which lubricant is the best fit for a given application? While some maintenance manuals provided by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) provide generic specifications that consider pertinent parameters, others give only a general specification that may not even consider operating temperatures. Today, this approach is no longer viable due to the current demands in industry to run faster, longer, and hotter. Lubricant selection today must satisfy extreme requirements that are specific to each application and are not found in any manual or handbook.
Tribology Expertise
Tribology, the study of friction, lubrication and wear, has become the basis for evaluating operating environs and selecting lubricants. The lubrication requirements for a given application can be identified by examining the effects of tribological system parameters on lubricant chemistry. Once these system parameters are identified, a recommendation can be made for selecting a lubricant that will optimize the performance of the application.
Several of our associates have extensive experience and advanced degrees in Tribology. Trust that TFP and Associates will provide you with the best application selections.
